Update:
In a conference call with reporters (per Jack Wang), Seahawks HC Pete Carroll was asked if he would rule out any chance of him leaving to take the Rams’ head-coaching job, to which he replied: “Yes.”

Multiple sources have told Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports that the Rams have Seahawks HC Pete Carroll on their list of potential head-coaching candidates to target after the season.
Robinson admits that hiring Carroll would be “exceptionally difficult to reel in, maybe as close to impossible.”
Robinson’s sources have said Rams owner Stan Kroenke and VP of football operations Kevin Demoff both have a “massive amount of respect” for Carroll, who checks several of the boxes they’re looking for in regards to their next head coach.
Robinson mentions that the Rams are seeking an energetic coach who has shown the ability to work closely with the personnel department, connects with core players, empowers the locker room, has experience overseeing the development of a young quarterback and can inspire the Los Angeles market.
“Pete makes sense in a lot of ways,” one source tells Robinson. “There is already a defensive core in place for him to work with. He has deep coaching ties across [the NFL] and knows how to build an offensive staff that can bring along [Goff]. … He’s a California guy at heart and has a track record there with the L.A. fan base [from his time at USC]. He’s also a great, great coach.”
While that may the Rams hope, Robinson admits that Carroll appears to be “virtually unobtainable.”
The Seahawks signed Carroll to an extension back in July that will keep him under team control through the 2019 season. Many assumed that this would end the speculation of him possibly leaving Seattle, but it appears as though the Rams weren’t deterred by him agreeing to a new contract.
The Rams have already been linked to a number of coaching candidates including Jim Harbaugh, Jon Gruden, Josh McDaniels and Kyle Shanahan since firing Jeff Fisher on Monday.
Carroll, 65, was hired by the Seahawks back in 2010. Since taking the job, Carroll has led the team to a record of 68-40 (62.8 percent) to go along with four playoff appearances, two trips to the Super Bowl and a Championship in 2013.
We’ll have more regarding the Rams’ head-coaching search as the news is available.
