According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams have been focused on several NFL assistant coaches so far in their head-coaching search, as opposed to big name options such as Jon Gruden and Jim Harbaugh.

Schefter says that the Rams have already taken a look at Dolphins DC Vance Joseph, Bills OC Anthony Lynn, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan as being potential fits.

The expectation, according to Schefter, is that the Rams plan to cast a wide net to find their next head coach and won’t zero in on the more popular coaching candidates, which was expected.

Meanwhile, Jason La Canfora reports that Redskins OC Sean McVay and Shanahan are both “well thought of” y the Rams and are likely to be part of the process in the coming weeks. La Canfora adds that McDaniels is also an appealing option for Los Angeles.

Ian Rapoport says that the Rams aren’t looking to “make a splash” this time around, as they previously made a “splash” hire by bringing in Jeff Fisher.

It’s worth mentioning that Saints HC Sean Payton and Panthers HC Ron Rivera have both come up as potential options for the Rams, even though they would need to work out a trade for either head coach.

A number of previous reports have said that the Rams’ job will be one of the most appealing jobs in recent years, due to the talent on their roster, the market they play in and the fact that they’ll be opening a new stadium in the coming years.

We’ll have more regarding who they’re targeting as the news is available.
