Todd Gurley

  • According to Jason Cole of B/R, outgoing members of the Rams’ coaching staff largely blamed RB Todd Gurley‘s decline on himself.
  • The coaches pointed to Gurley missing much of the offseason program to take part in offseason activities like hanging out with Jay Z, who’s agency represents Gurley.
  • After the season, Gurley criticized the team’s offense. However, the coaches told Cole: “It’s the same one he was in as a rookie when he played well. You tell me the difference.”

49ers

  • Jason La Canfora hears that it’s by no means certain the 49ers hire one of two current candidates — Cardinals’ Terry McDonough and Vikings’ George Paton — as their next GM and they could easily expand their search in the coming days.
  • One report mentions that Kyle Shanahan could try to get his father, Mike Shanahan, a job with the 49ers. (NFLTR)

Bills

  • Jason Cole of B/R spoke with outgoing coaches from the Bills’ staff who are angry with DT Marcell Dareus for his criticism of former HC Rex Ryan’s defense.
  • The coaches who spoke to Cole says that Dareus was “incredibly lazy” even when he was healthy and not suspended.
  • Cole’s source added that Dareus was regularly on his phone or iPad during meetings and not paying attention to what was being discussed by the coaching staff.
  • According to Cole, veteran DT Kyle Williams had to constantly tell Dareus what his assignments were during games

Chargers

  • A rumor surfaced last week that Chargers owner Dean Spanos may try to move the team back to San Diego, despite recently agreeing to join the Rams in Los Angeles. However, Spanos has since denied the talk of returning to San Diego
  • A source tells Jason Cole the Spanos family has no intention of selling the team and they are “troubled” by the reports that some owners are disappointed with his decision to move the team to Los Angeles.
  • Cole adds that Spanos is upset with league officials, whom Spanos believes are working against his efforts to relocate the Chargers to L.A.

Packers

  • Rob Demovsky reports that Packers TE Richard Rodgers and C Corey Linsley will both receive salaries increases to $1.838 million for the 2017 season, due to salary escalators that they qualified for this past year.
