49ers
49ers VP of player personnel Adam Peters said the team was hoping to select S Tarvarius Moore as a sleeper pick, but his 40-yard dash time of 4.32 put him on other team’s radar and led to San Francisco using a third-round pick to get him.
“I remember talking about it,” said Peters, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “We were all kind of p—- that he ran that fast because now we would have to take him a little higher.”
“When (a draft prospect) is not invited to the combine and things like that, you think you’ve got a sleeper. And then the guy goes and runs a 4.32 at his pro day and all of a sudden he’s not so much of a sleeper,” 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said.
Cowboys
Cowboys G Chaz Green admitted that he has to prove himself to make the team’s active roster after struggling last season.
“Oh, for sure, it’s been real tough to get over, man,” Green said, via Drew Davidson of the Star-Telegram. “I’d by lying if I’d sit here and said it wasn’t. As a competitor, it’s tough, but it’s something that I feel like I go off on. I always keep it in the back of my head when I go out to work each and every day.”
Green believes that most of his errors last season were “self-inflicted” and knows he could’ve played better.
“When I watched it, I knew a lot of it was self-inflicted. That’s what’s so bad about it,” Green said. “That’s no disrespect to who I was going against. I just know my capabilities and I know I could’ve done better. I’m trying to work on those things and make sure that’s something I don’t go back to.”
Seahawks
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times expects the Seahawks to keep six receivers on the 53-man roster, including Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Jaron Brown, Brandon Marshall, Amara Darboh and David Moore.
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll recently spoke highly of Moore, who is in his second year with the team.
“David Moore has been special for us,” Carroll said. “He’s a very, very good athlete. He came from a really small program (East Central in Oklahoma), and he wasn’t able to catch it all in stride until late in the season when we finally got him active the last week, but you can see the playmaking ability. We’re already trying to figure out ways to move him around so he can show off what he’s got. He doesn’t look like it, but he’s a real strong kid, probably 218 pounds, and he’s physical. We’re really excited to see him like we did in preseason last year with run after catch stuff. He’s had a very good camp, he has made a big jump—made the freshman-sophomore jump, and it’s exciting to see that.”
