Buccaneers
New Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians has no problem with QB Jameis Winston‘s plan to play this season at 250 pounds.
“He looks lean,” Arians said via Rick Stroud. “No, I mean whatever he feels comfortable at without bad weight, stuff that will hurt your scrambling and hurt your mobility. It sure helps when they try to sack you.”
- According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins and Buccaneers will hold joint practices together this preseason.
Eagles
- According to Ian Rapoport, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson underwent foot surgery for a nagging ailment.
-
Jeff McLane of Philly.com reports that the Eagles pursued RB Tevin Coleman in free agency before he agreed to a deal with the 49ers.
-
McLane mentions that money couldn’t have been a factor in the Eagles not signing Coleman, seeing as he signed for just $8.5 million over two years.
-
However, McLane says Coleman may have preferred to play for his Kyle Shanahan, who was his offensive coordinator a few years ago in Atlanta.
-
McLane tosses out Duke Johnson and Jordan Howard as possible trade candidates for Philadelphia to consider, but wonders if the Eagles would really be willing to part with even a late-round pick for running backs that are available for a reason.
Saints
- Per Ben Volin, DT Malcolm Brown‘s new deal with the Saints has a maximum value of $15 million with $7.5 million guaranteed.
- Brown will make $5.5 million in 2019 and $4.5 million in 2020, after which Volin thinks it’s likely the Saints move on.
